Genomic evidence can connect sequence variation with questions about evolutionary history and adaptation. Genomics for Ecological and Evolutionary Studies led by Giulio Formenti (Vertebrate Genome Lab, The Rockefeller University) and Guido Gallo (Department of Biosciences, University of Milan) is now available as an on-demand streaming seminar. Compare sequencing technologies and use command-line bioinformatics tools to align reads, call variants, and inspect variant call files. Analyse short and long reads with Bowtie 2, Samtools, Freebayes, and Minimap2, then compare alignments and draft genome assemblies. Evolutionary researchers can apply these workflows to investigate biodiversity, evolutionary history, and adaptation using genomic data.
