Postdoctoral Researcher in Ecological Networks and Biodiversity Conservation at the University of Helsinki
Join the University of Helsinki as a Postdoctoral Researcher on the newly funded project ANEW: Arising Novelty in Ecological netWorks: consequences for ecosystem functioning and biodiversity conservation. This is a fully funded 2-year position investigating ecological network novelty and its consequences for biodiversity and ecosystem functioning under global change.
The successful candidate will play an important scientific role within the project, combining large-scale ecological datasets, species trait data, ecological network analyses and quantitative modelling. The position will also involve coordinating field resurveys of historical seed dispersal networks across Europe, mentoring junior researchers, and contributing to leading collaborative publications.
We are looking for a researcher with a background in ecology and experience in quantitative analyses and ecological fieldwork. The position is available from 1 January 2027 or as agreed and will be supervised by Dr Emma-Liina Marjakangas. The project involves collaboration with Prof Heini Kujala (University of Helsinki) and Prof Matthias Schleuning (Senckenberg Biodiversity and Climate Research Centre, Germany).
