The Carlson Lab in the Department of Biology at the University of Rochester (https://marync.github.io/carlsonlab/index.html) is launching in January 2027 and is seeking a postdoctoral researcher. The lab works at the interface of population and quantitative genetics, statistics, and evolutionary biology. An immediate focus of the group is the development of methods and theory to interpret empirical fitness landscapes in the context of population genetic and evolutionary data. Work in the lab will typically involve some combination of theory, statistical methods development, simulation, and data analysis. Independent research that complements the group’s research themes is most welcome.

Preferred qualifications include:
- Strong quantitative background
- Broad intellectual interests within and outside of (evolutionary) genetics
- Self-motivation and independence
