Postdoctoral position: Genomics of Repeated Adaptation

The Yeaman lab is looking to hire a postdoctoral researcher to work on a large project focusing on the genomics of repeated adaptation. This position will be contributing to the MacroMar and RepAdapt projects, which are jointly building a large interoperable dataset with genome sequence data from thousands of individuals and hundreds of species of plants, animals, and fungi. We currently have >130 datasets re-processed through a common pipeline, and are working on dramatically expanding this. Duties will include some combination of: a) finding new publicly-available sequence datasets, processing them through our bioinformatic pipeline, and helping curate submissions, b) developing new methods for evolutionary inference and statistical analysis of the datasets and/or test performance of existing methods, c) using this multi-species population genomic dataset to test evolutionary hypotheses of interest. We are particularly interested in studying repeated adaptation, but these datasets enable the exploration of many other questions at a broad scale. There is lots of potential for creative science and extensive collaboration with >150 other scientists who are participating in these initiatives. The position will be in-person at University of Calgary.
 
Funding is in place to cover an 18-month position, with several grant applications underway that should hopefully extend this further (CAD $60k salary + benefits).
