Evolutionary Applications -- Special Issue Call for Authors and Guest Editors:
Emerging Trends in Host–Microbe Dependency and Adaptive Change for Conservation and Management (expected to launch in October 2026)
 
We would like to invite contributions for an upcoming Special Issue in Evolutionary Applications focused on "Emerging Trends in Host–Microbe Dependency and Adaptive Change for Conservation and Management."
 
ABOUT THE SPECIAL ISSUE:
This Special Issue will explore how evolutionary interactions between hosts and their associated microbiomes influence adaptation, resilience, and applied conservation outcomes in wild and captive populations. We welcome empirical, theoretical, and methodological advances, as well as syntheses, reviews, and perspectives.
 
Submissions should apply an evolutionary framework, possess clear relevance to conservation or management, and appeal to the broad readership of Evolutionary Applications.
 
Potential topics include (but are not limited to):
- Microbiome-mediated adaptation and eco-evolutionary dynamics
- Hologenomic and co-evolutionary approaches in wildlife conservation
- Microbial responses and host resilience under environmental change
- Host health, immunity, and host–microbe co-adaptation
- Conservation interventions and microbiome management in captive or production populations
 
CALL FOR GUEST EDITORS:
We are actively seeking researchers interested in joining our guest editorial team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain editorial experience, contribute to an emerging area at the intersection of evolutionary biology and conservation, and help assemble an influential collection. We strongly encourage applications from both established and early-career/emerging researchers.
