** *Matilda: the clip that gives voice back to women in science

**Women in science, move forward without limits!* **

On** International Women’s Day,** we are proud to share the new music
video by** Yaëlle Wormser, PhD student of the Université Paris Cité**
in microbiology at the Institut Pasteur,** aka Lady Pipette**.

In this powerful track, in French available with English subtitles,
she highlights **the Matilda Effect**, the persistent invisibilization
of women scientists’ contributions. Through her striking music, she
pays tribute to pioneering scientists:

**Katalin Karikó**, a pioneer of mRNA technology and next-generation
vaccines
**Rosalind Franklin**, whose work revealed the structure of DNA
**Alice Ball**, who developed a treatment for leprosy
**Esther Lederberg**, a key figure in bacterial genetics
** Daisy Dussoix**, co-discoverer of enzymes that allow manipulation
 of genetic information

This initiative perfectly illustrates the commitment **of new generations
of scientists** to recognize and value women’s contributions to science,
and to show that **innovation **relies on **inclusive **research,
driven by **everyone**.

As **72 women scientists’ names** ??" **including 5 Pasteurians**
??" will soon be engraved on the Eiffel Tower, this video reminds us:
** recognition must go beyond symbols ??" it must become systemic.**

*Stand Up for Science: two years of commitment in defense of research **

In March 2025, faced with growing attacks on scientific facts
and researchers in the United States, the Institut Pasteur
took a stand by joining the international **Stand Up for Science
movement. **A mobilization driven by a strong conviction, expressed
by Professor** Yasmine Belkaid, Director General of the Institut
Pasteur: "Science is the foundation of our understanding of the world
and of our ability to respond to its needs and challenges in an informed
manner."*

**One year later, our determination remains intact. ** As attacks
multiply and resources continue to shrink, our researchers are mobilizing
once again to defend science and those who bring it to life every day.

One certainty remains**: science is not a matter of opinion, it is a
pillar of our democracies.

**Let us be many to carry this message. Together, let us defend the
future of research.
