Preference will be given to a personality open to communication and cooperation, able to stimulate young colleagues. Managerial skills will be evaluated as part of the recruitment process. The position will be at Associate Professor level, tenured. This position entails the following responsibilities and expectations: an outstanding, internationally recognized, research program; a track record of securing competitive grants; and the ability to teach several courses while contributing to the administration and smooth operation of the department. Candidates at diverse levels of seniority are encouraged to apply. The position comes with a generous startup package and an annual research budget. Prior knowledge of French is not required, but we expect the candidate to be able to teach in French within two years. The research program is expected to contribute to the aims of both the Department and of the Sense (https://www.the-sense.ch/?lang=en) (interdisciplinary center for research, innovation, and training in sensory sciences). The Department of Ecology and Evolution covers the breadth of ecology and evolution and aims to cultivate an atmosphere of scientific excellence which is respectful of people. We are composed of 16 independent research groups working on a wide range of different ecological, evolutionary, and conservation biology topics that span fundamental and theoretical research through to more applied research, with nearly 100 postdocs and PhD students from over 30 nationalities. We share the campus and multiple collaborations with other departments, including both theoretical and experimental studies of behavior and of neurosciences, in the Faculty of Biology and Medicine (https://www.unil.ch/fbm/en/home.html) as well as in in the Faculty of Business and Economics (https://www.unil.ch/hec/en/home.html), and there are many inter-departmental interactions and activities.
