We would like to invite applications and abstract submissions for the FEBS-IUBMB-ENABLE conference The Code of Life: Beyond the Genome to Multilayer Biology, which will take place in Kraków, Poland, on 14–16 October 2026. We think this meeting will be of interest to evolutionary biologists because the field is especially aware of how we need to think beyond the idea of a single “genome” toward questions that integrate variation across many genomes with regulation, epigenetics, development, cell states, and phenotype. The keynote program includes speakers whose work spans multiple biological scales relevant to evolutionary thinking: Mzia Kutateladze (bacteriophages, antimicrobial resistance, host-pathogen systems), Tanja Ćirković Veličković (proteomics, food biochemistry, environmental effects on molecular phenotype), Krzysztof Szade (stem-cell heterogeneity and epigenetic memory), Syed Haider (computational analysis of bulk and single-cell multi-modal datasets), Aleksandra Kołodziejczyk (single-cell genomics, microbiota-host interactions), Daniela Ungureanu (single-cell approaches to signaling and drug response), Alexandre Bonvin (computational structural biology and biomolecular interactions), and Guido Sanguinetti (splicing dynamics, RNA biology, Bayesian and machine-learning methods). We particularly welcome early-career researchers in population genetics, evolutionary genomics, regulatory evolution, epigenetics, evo-devo, host-microbe interactions, genotype-to-phenotype mapping, and single-cell or spatial approaches with evolutionary relevance.
